Hey everybody..

Looking for some advice here.

My Great Grandmother passed away and I inherited her china. I absolutely LOVE the china and plan on keeping it for a LONG time.... but I'm still curious as to what it's worth. I've been searching for where I could go in Los Angeles to have it appraised, but so far, I've totally struck out. The few places I have found won't appraise it without a "appraisal fee," or just flat out won't do it.

Any suggestions on where to go in Los Angeles for this?!

The china is "Athena - Yellow Key" by Thun and I've basically got 8 pieces of everything and serving platters, bowls, etc.

Thanks!!!

We went to our country's version of the Antique Roadshow to have a picture appraised. It was quite a short appraisal, but we got the name of the painter and a rough idea of the value and it was good fun. Would that be a possibility for you?

If you know the name and the pattern, and you do, you can go to replacements.com and look it up. If they have it in stock they have the cost per piece listed there.

This is your best bet. But Replacements doesn't always want your entire set. Sometimes they just want pieces. Such a shame to break up a set. They may want your serving pieces, but not the plates, in example. Be mindful of this when you're looking at their inventory. Your set is worth more complete than in pieces, generally speaking.
